Vineyard notes:
Farley Peak sits at about 3000 feet just south of Laytonville in
northern Mendocino County. Production levels are restricted to about 2
tons per acre.
Production notes:
The grapes were destemmed, not crushed, and fermented in open vats,
with the must being punched down manually every 6 hours for 5 days.
After pressing and a short period in a settling tank, the wine was
racked to French Oak cooperage. The wine
was lightly filtered before bottling.
Winemaker notes:
This wine has wonderful perfume, the trademark of a great Pinot Noir.
It has been a truly enchanting experience to see this wine mature. It
is the best Pinot Noir we've made. Gold Medal, Humboldt County
Fair..
