58% Sangiovese - 25% Cabernet Sauvignon - 17% Merlot
Vineyard notes:
The principal varietal in this Super Tuscan blend is the Brunello clone of Sangiovese which
came from Fox Hill Vineyard, located on the East side of the
Ukiah
Basin. This Sangiovese grosso was harvested from mature vines planted
over 20 years ago.
Production notes:
After several evaluations we felt the naturally occurring high
acidity should be balanced by the addition of cabernet and merlot, in
the same fashion that Super Tuscan wines are produced.
Winemaker notes:
The wine has good acid and berry like aromas, muted only slightly by
oak vanilla.
Awards
In the 2006 Orange County Fair, this blend was awarded a Gold
Medal .
